The Yellow Trillium is a member of the
Lily Family (Liliaceae) that has all of its flower parts and leaves in threes. The stalkless flower of three upright, closed petals sits atop the swirl of three large mottled leaves. The plant is found in rich woods, usually in large patches.
The plant will grow to about 1 foot tall and blooms from April to June. It is found in the South and the Midwest
