Tawny Day Lily
Hemerocallis fulva

The Day Lily is a member of the Lily Family (Lillium). This 5" flower blooms on a 2-6' tall leafless stalk. The flowers are very short-lived and wither after only one day of blooming.

They can be successfully grown in the garden, even by someone as inept as myself, but they bloom in profusion along the roadsides and in the fields from Florida to Texas and north to Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. They bloom all summer long and come in various shades of orange and yellow.
