Tall Bellflower
Campanula americana
The Tall Bellflower is a member of the Bluebell Family (Campanulaceae). This plant grows to between 2 and 6 feet tall and is found in rich moist thickets and woods in the summer months. The above example was found in dpp shady woods.

The light blue, flat flowers are about 1 inch across and look rather like a 5 pointed star. A really distinguishing characteristic is the long curved protruding style coming from the center of the flower.

The leaves are long and thin and the edges are toothed. This plant is found in Eastern north America and blooms from June to August.
