Eastern Comma

Eastern Comma
Polygonia comma

The Comma is a common angle wing of moist open woodland. The Angle Wings are named for the sharp, angular edges on their wings that actually give them a rather lacy effect. The Eastern Comma is found from Southern Canada to the gulf coast in North America, and from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains to the Atlantic Coast.

The larvae feed on Nettle, falst nettle, elms and hops.
