Swainson's Thrush is a member of the family Turdidae, which includes more than 300 species of songbirds. This bird is related to the American Robin The European blackbird and the nightingale.

The Swainson's Thrush is about 6" long and prefers to live in forests and underbursh. It has distinctive eye markings and buffy colored wings. It also has chest markings, which don't show well in this picture, but are definitly there when viewed closely.

This Thrush's range is in the northern tier of the United States and into Canada.
