White-Tailed Deer

White-Tailed Deer
White-Tailed Deer

The White-Tailed Deer, once almost hunted to extinction, have become the most numerous large game animals on the continent of North America. This deer weighs in at 200 pounds and is about 3.5 feet tall at the shoulder. It is a member of the Cervidae family which also includes the Elk, the Moose, the Caribou, the Reindeer and many others. The Family of deer are native to all parts of the world except Australia and Antarctica.

Around my home you rarely see deer except early in the morning and late in the evening, and then usually in the fall during mating season.

Deer are fast, graceful, beautiful animals. If not killed by hunters, predators, disease or famine, a deer may live for up to 20 years in the wild.
